WHO published a list of 12 most worrying viruses
According to a reporter in Europe, on February 27, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced a list of 12 bacteria groups that the world must urgently develop new antibiotics to cope with , because The risk of these bacteria against current treatments is very worrying. The most dangerous group of bacteria includes multidrug-resistant bacteria.
Below is a list of 12 types of bacteria divided into 3 groups ranked according to the level of danger proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO) on February 27.
Group 1: Particularly dangerous
- Acinetobacter baumannii, carbapenem resistant : Often attacks the visceral system that contains lots of fluids and causes diseases such as urinary tract infections.
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa, carbapenem resistance : Causes a variety of symptoms and illnesses such as pneumonia, skin infection, eye infection.
- Enterobacteriaceae, resistant to carbapenem and 3rd generation cephalosporin : Causes 50% of infections that require hospitalization each year such as urinary tract infection, blood infection.
According to Medical Daily, the bacteria in this group are the biggest threat to human health because they are resistant to many drugs. In particular, they are resistant to carbapenem, which is most effective in treating resistant bacteria.
Thus, there is no way to treat bacterial disease of group 1. They lead to high mortality rates.
WHO calls for increased prevention and control of infections .
Group 2: High level of danger
- Enterococcus faecium, vancomycin resistance : Causes wound infection and urinary tract infection.
- Staphylococcus aureus, resistant to methicillin: Responsible for stomach diseases or commonly known as food poisoning.
- Helicobacter pylori, clarithromycin resistance : Often affects the stomach and can lead to ulcers, gastritis.
- Campylobacter, fluoroquinolone resistance : Causes some stomach and digestive diseases such as diarrhea, spasms, abdominal pain.
- Salmonella spp., Fluoroquinolone resistance : Pulls to symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, abdominal pain.
- Neisseria gonorrhoeae, 3rd generation cephalosporin resistance and fluoroquinolone : Causes of reproductive system infection and easily lead to infertility if left untreated.May cause eye infection.
Bacteria in this group are the biggest threat to human health.
Group 3: Moderate danger
- Streptococcus pneumoniae, not sensitive to penicillin : Causes a number of diseases such as pneumonia, ear infection, sinusitis.
- Haemophilus influenzae, resistance to ampicillin : Mainly attacks newborns and young children, resulting in many diseases ranging from ear infections to blood infections.
- Shigella spp., Fluoroquinolone resistance : Causes intestinal diseases characterized by bloody diarrhea symptoms.
There are still ways to treat group 2 and group 3 bacteria, but with increasing variability, their resistance to the whole drug is only a matter of time.
Listed above, WHO hopes to push the government and pharmaceutical companies to work together to develop new drugs to protect people from formidable bacteria.
