Why aren't vultures poisoned when eating scavengers? Do they practice yoga regularly? The truth is not so!

Picture 1 of Why aren't vultures poisoned when eating scavengers?

Vultures are birds that eat corpses.

Vultures are birds that eat corpses, they can eat rotting animal flesh. All substances when decomposed contain many harmful bacteria, which can cause illness or poisoning if animals or humans eat.

However, in the stomach vultures contain very strong acids (with a pH close to zero) , which helps protect them from harmful bacteria.

But our stomachs also contain acid? That's right, but the stomach acid vulture is much stronger than the stomach acid. It was so strong that it could corrode some metals.

So when vultures eat scavengers, their stomach acid will kill most bacteria that cause food poisoning and other health problems, helping them to be safe after meals.
