Thanh Hoa: Number of people poisoned by eating silkworms and silkworm pupae

According to information, Mr. Ha Dinh Ngu, deputy director of Thanh Hoa Preventive Health Center told reporters that on the morning of March 29, 2006, the number of people poisoned by eating silkworms and silkworm pupae has increased dramatically.

Consumers should be wary of this type of silkworm and silkworm pupae, if not, it will be easy to be poisoned when eating them. By this morning, the total number of poisoned people has reached 183 patients, including mostly children.

Among the above poisoned people, Cam Thuy district has the largest number of patients, with 120 people (of which there are 112 people in the commune of Cam Quy highland, 8 in Cam Thach commune; Vinh Loc district has 23 people, Ba Thuoc 40 people).

These patients said that they have been buying silkworms and silkworm chicks of peddlers in the past few days (defined as hometown in Yen Dinh district) in the rural markets.

Mr. Ngu added that on the morning of March 29, Thanh Hoa Preventive Medicine Center in coordination with Yen Dinh District Medical Center and related functional departments were checking and taking samples of silkworms where silkworms were provided. , silkworm pupae at Thai Thinh silkworm production facility (located in Dinh Lien commune, Yen Dinh district) to send to the central laboratory and have an official conclusion about the cause of a series of food poisoning cases in these days in the above districts.
