Wi-fi increased rapidly at airports
IPass wireless Internet service provider has just announced a 44% increase in Wi-fi hotspots (hotspots) in the last 6 months of 2006. In it, Europe is the region with the biggest jump with 74% of wireless data volume, compared to the corresponding figure of the US only 33%. Notably, access points are used by most entrepreneurs.
Wi-fi hotspots at airports are favored by business people
This announcement provides a comparison of the role of Wi-fi in the growing trend of the 3G world. Along with 3G services that have sprung up in many places with enough price to compete with hotspots, the introduction of cheap Wi-fi has made the demand for it not reduced.
Currently, iPass owns a system of more than 76,000 hotspots in 68 countries and territories. While Europe is at the forefront of growth, the US has a large share of access points with 60% of hotspots belonging to the nation that have given birth to wireless connectivity technology.
Although Asia-Pacific and Latin America are mixed areas that only hold 8% of all Wi-fi services, there are also impressive numbers in these two areas. The number of hotspots has been raised to 57% in Latin America and Asia - Pacific 30% in 2006.
The most popular Wi-fi hotspots are at the airport service centers, according to calculations, nearly half of the hotspots belong to this location. It is also the place where the growth rate of 40% in 2006 is followed by Internet cafes with the rate of holding 16% of all access points today.
