You may not know: Appendicitis is caused by a virus
The cause of appendicitis is caused by a special virus that acts similarly to the virus that causes influenza.
This is the conclusion in the research work of a group of scientists from a Texas State University, USA published by the European press on January 22.
Although appendicitis is quite common (one out of every 10 people in the world has appendicitis), but so far scientists have not found the cause.
In the study, scientists reported appendicitis outbreaks in the 20th century and found that the number of patients increased mainly during the summer months and this phenomenon recurred after a certain time period.
Scientists also found that there are cases where the number of patients has increased dramatically while confirming the nature and timing of the disease show that appendicitis is an infectious disease caused by a typical virus .
However, scientists also rule out the link between appendicitis virus and seasonal influenza virus.
