11 signs that your partner is lying to you

When a person lies, it can be difficult to tell, and we cannot know exactly what they say is true, are they completely sincere?

However, there are still some signs to tell if a person is lying if you take the time to carefully observe their behavior.

'How can you tell if someone is lying or not?' Perhaps even when you discover that lie you ask yourself this question.

Research by Dr. Leanne ten Brinke, a psychologist at the University of California and colleagues, shows that our instinct to judge those who are lying is actually quite strong – but sometimes our sense of Thinking back causes us to misjudge.

Fortunately, there are a few signs we can look out for to spot a lie.

Dr Lillian Glass, behavioral and body language analyst and author of the book 'Body Language of Liars', says: 'When trying to spot someone is lying , you need to first understand what the person's behavior is like.'

Here are some signs that someone is lying to you:

1. People who are lying often turn their heads very quickly

If you see someone constantly turning their head when you ask them a direct question, there may be something wrong with them.

At this time their head may be slightly bent or inclined to lean back, skewed or tilted to one side. These behaviors will often show up before they even answer your question.

2. They will change the way they breathe

When a person is lying to you, they will breathe heavily. This is an unconditioned reflex when a person lies.

As they change their breathing, their shoulders will lift slightly and their voices will become lighter.

In fact, when they lie, their nerves will become tense and feel very urgent. Therefore, the body will self-regulate, making the heart beat faster, blood pressure changes leading to them having to breathe hard to adjust to the changes of the body.

3. Tendency to stay still

Normally when people are stressed, people tend to be restless, but actually stress also makes you stand still, unable to move at all.

This is a sign of a 'war' reflected on the nerves, so position the body and prepare itself for possible confrontation. When you talk and engage in normal conversation, your body will naturally move around, at ease, and it's a completely unconscious act.

So, if you observe a rigid, non-gestural touch, it is usually a warning sign that they are stressed, their communication spontaneity is on 'off' mode.

4. Repeating a certain word or phrase

They repeat certain words because they are trying to make you believe in themselves or in something. They try to make the lie more believable, for example they keep repeating the phrase: 'I really don't… I really don't…

That repetition is also how they buy time to work out the next scenario in their head so that their lie looks reasonable.

5. Provide a lot of information

When a person is constantly, continuously giving you a lot of information. The information that you did not ask for, but they still give in a very detailed way. Then the possibility is that what they are referring to will not be true.

Liars often talk a lot because they are hoping with what they say, with what they give, that others will believe them.

6. They often touch their lips and cover their mouths

The main sign of liars is that they automatically put their hand over their mouth when they don't want to face a problem or when they don't want to answer a question.

When an adult puts their hand on their lips, it means that they do not want to reveal anything, do not want to tell the truth. That behavior clearly shows they want to stop communicating.

7. Tendency to subconsciously shield vulnerable locations

These are locations such as the throat, chest, head, or abdomen.

This is most noticeable in the courts, you will be able to see the act of covering the neck with the hands of the accused giving pre-arranged testimony.

8. Feet have a tendency to shake, swing back and forth

The act of turning the feet is the body's response to discomfort, restlessness, this is a sign of a person about to lie. It shows from the inside that the person wants to leave the situation in front of them, they want to leave immediately.

This is one of the important ways to detect who is lying. Their feet say a lot.

9. They suddenly became difficult to talk

If you were to watch a video of the interrogation of the suspect, you would find it very difficult to talk to them. This happens because when you are stressed, the nervous system will act to reduce the amount of saliva secreted, making the oral cavity dry.

Other signs to watch out for, like biting your lips or pursed your lips, also indicate nervousness when a person isn't telling the truth.

10. They stare without blinking

Eye contact is important to spot whether a person is lying or not. When telling the truth, our eyes will move slowly, naturally, sometimes looking away.

But those who lie are not like that, they maintain eye contact to control and manipulate you. Liars, on the other hand, will use a cold, steady gaze to intimidate and control.

When they blink, the speed is also very fast.

11. Tends to point all over the place

When a liar becomes defensive and rebellious when faced with the truth, he is more likely to want to change the situation, which leads to outward manifestation of aggressive gestures such as pointing point…
