Another "timeless" thing has stunned the archaeological team working in Pompeii - the Roman city buried 2,000 years ago under volcanic ash.

According to Heritage Daily, during excavations in Pompeii's luxurious Regio IX area, the archaeological team discovered a mural depicting an ancient dining table in good condition.

Archaeologically, a nearly intact and clear painting after 2,000 years is already a great treasure, but even more shocking is the presence on that dining table of. a pizza .

It's not the same as "traditional" pizza , but more like the slightly modified kind that people in other countries have been creating in recent years to suit their tastes and take advantage of local dishes.

But in any case, the presence of this "ancestor" of pizza is completely unexpected. Previously, people still thought of pizza as a modern fast food, although it also has deep roots as a flat dough Italian cake from 1,000 years ago.

But everything in Pompeii is approximately 2,000 years old or more, as the city was buried in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.

The "ancestor" of pizza in the painting could be much older because according to the Director of the Pompeii Archaeological Park Gabriel Zuchtriegel, this fresco shows the theme of Greek hospitality, a theme that was further developed by the great Roman painters.

The fresco was discovered in an area that had been excavated since the 19th century, located in the atrium of a house in the Regio IX area - the center of Pompeii, now in Italy.

The house was a large villa that collapsed, and there was a large oven near the painting. The remains of three victims of the volcanic disaster were also found in the house.

This is not the first time Pompeii has revealed "timeless" elements .
