World media reported that on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the founding of the state of Jalisco, the Dulces Mazapán de la Rosa candy company created a giant marshmallow, weighing up to 648kg. The unique candy is displayed in an outdoor area at Plaza Fundadores in Jalisco state capital Guadalajara.
To make the giant candy, Dulces Mazapán de la Rosa said, the company had to mobilize about 100 workers, with the preparation stages lasting 53 hours. The process of pouring the marshmallow mixture into the mold took nearly 2 hours due to its large size. The marshmallow was then left to rest for 48 hours and evaluated by a representative of the Guinness World Records Organization.
A representative of the Guinness World Records Organization said that the weight of the marshmallow is up to 648 kg, heavier than a Steinway D274 piano weighing 480 kg. With this weight, Dulces Mazapán de la Rosa's marshmallow beat the previous world record set by England's Berkhamsted School in 2019 when it made a candy weighing 93kg.
After setting the Guinness World Record, the marshmallow was divided into small portions for event attendees to enjoy and given to surrounding residents.
