Aboriginal Australians represent the oldest civilization on Earth

According to the first extensive study of Australian Aboriginal DNA, they are the representatives of the oldest civilization on Earth.

This study shows that they have appeared more than 50,000 years ago in the Stone Age.

According to Independent, scientists took DNA samples of modern populations in Australia to find genetic traces of ancient civilization and recreated their journey to leave Africa 72,000 years ago.

The new study shows that the first residents of the expedition set foot on a prehistoric supercontinent named Sahul about 58,000 years ago.

This large continental region includes Australia, New Guinea and Tasmania today, before being separated by rising sea levels.

The study, published this week in the journal Nature, found that the ancestors of indigenous Australian and Papuan Aboriginal people met and mated with a mysterious race, which has yet to find fossils.

Lead researcher, Professor Eske Willerslev said: "We don't know who the mysterious race is, but they are a distant relative of the Denisovans, and the Australian / Papuan ancestors probably met them at near Sahul ".

Previous studies have found that modern people today have a small percentage of Neanderthal DNA due to mating.

Similarly, this mysterious race has contributed 4% to the native Aboriginal genome.

This finding also solved some long-standing debate among experts about how the first humans left Africa.

Some believe that non-Africans are descendants of a small group of "adventurers" who have left the continent, but others still maintain that many waves of migration have occurred.

The new study supports the hypothesis of a single wave of migration , and shows that this group of migrants has separated and traveled to many parts of the world.

Willerslev's findings suggest that indigenous Australians can now trace their origins to the ancient group of people who came to Sahul , where they lived in isolation up to 4,000 years ago.

"They are probably the oldest resident group in the world that you can contact with a specific location , " Willerslev said.

The great diversity in the genetic structure of indigenous Aboriginal people in Australia has also been revealed.

"The genetic diversity in the Aboriginal population reflects the very long time they have lived in this continent," said the co-author and research author .
