Additives in personal body care products can make weak sperm difficult to conceive, according to the study published in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

As a result, the authors found that men with lots of paraben , a good chemical preservative for cosmetics in the urine are more likely to have abnormal sperm in both shape and mobility. Besides, a high amount of butylparaben (a popular form of paraben) causes sperm DNA to be damaged.

Explaining this phenomenon, scientists believe that paraben is a substance that breaks the endocrine balance. It disturbs the normal activity of hormones, negatively affects testosterone levels and sperm production. Finally, the ability to conceive becomes difficult.

The problem is that parabens are present in a range of personal care cosmetics such as toothpaste, sunscreen, lotion, cleanser, soap, shampoo and conditioner. Moreover, it is not known how much paraben content in the product will be harmful.

To protect themselves in the midst of a specific study, experts recommend that the community carefully read the product before buying.
