Air pollution reduces sperm quality in men

There will be a negative effect on the quality of sperm of men, in particular making sperm malformed and weaker , which is the new research results published in Occupational & Environmental Medicine journals.

Scientists have done research on medical records from 2001 - 2014, for more than 6,400 men aged 15-49 in Taiwan (China) and found a close relationship between substances sperm count and exposure to PM 2.5 density in the air.

The men were divided into two groups, the first group exposed to PM 2.5 within 3 months and the second group exposed for 2 years. Pollution levels were measured at their residence during the study, based on NASA satellite data. The data show that PM 2.5 density has increased by 5ug / m ³ each year, while sperm size and quality of these people also decreased by approximately 1.29% respectively. This relationship was recorded in both groups of subjects.

Scientists believe that declining sperm quality may also be due to many other factors, but this study is still considered a recommendation for couples who want to give birth.
