Around 2017, Vietnam will have the first nuclear power plant

On 12/5, speaking at a press conference, Mr. Vuong Huu Tan, Director of the Vietnam Atomic Energy Commission said, Vietnam will build the first nuclear power plant at the location of Phuoc Dinh in the territory. Vinh Truong village, Phuoc Dinh commune, Ninh Phuoc district (Ninh Thuan).

In 2017-2020, this nuclear power plant will be put into operation and safely operated with a capacity of 2 units, each of 1,000 MW, gradually increasing the rate of nuclear power to a reasonable level in total national electricity output (11% in 2025, 25-30% in 2040-2050).

To prepare for the development of nuclear power in Vietnam, an International Nuclear Power Exhibition 2006, entitled "Safety and Economic Competition of Nuclear Power 2006", will take place from 16-19. / 5 at the Friendship Cultural Palace, 91 Tran Hung Dao, Hanoi.

This is the first exhibition with intensive content on the safety and economic competition of nuclear power organized with the participation of 4 countries: Korea, Russia, Japan and France - countries with achievements Advanced nuclear science and technology.

Within the framework of the exhibition there will be an international dialogue with the theme " Safety and economic competition of nuclear power " and 3 separate seminars of participating countries.
