The Research Institute for Aquaculture No. 1 (Ministry of Fisheries) has successfully cultivated four most rare fish species of the Red River system. That is:

  • Dot lemur (hemibagrus gutattus lacépède),
  • Bagarius yarrelli sykes,
  • Goby (spinibarbus denticulatus oshima)
  • English fish (semilabeo obscous lin).

According to experts, the current production of four species of fish is seriously reduced, and is at risk of extinction, ranked at the level of danger level 2. Exploiting output of these 4 species of fish decreases by 10% - 15% of output in years 70 and 80; even the output of fresh fish is only about 1%.
