The Ramsar Convention Secretariat in Switzerland has recognized the Bau Sau wetland system (Cat Tien National Park) with the 1499th international importance of the world according to the Ramsar list and the second Ramsar site of Vietnam. .

Bau Sau wetland and seasonal wetlands of Cat Tien National Park (referred to as Bau Sau Wetland System) covers an area of ​​13,759ha, including 5.360ha of seasonal and 151ha submerged wetlands. year-round water. The remaining area is lower than 115m above sea level. The entire Bau Sau wetland system is located in the center of Nam Cat Tien area, Cat Tien national park (Tan Phu district, Dong Nai province).

The Bau Sau wetland system is recognized in the Ramsar list, confirming the value and significance of biodiversity conservation in Vietnam, creating more favorable conditions to continue to promote conservation achievements. natural resources and community development, promoting the benefits of environmental protection, science, associated with economic, cultural and social benefits.

The Ramsar Convention is the " convention for special important international wetlands such as the habitat of waterbirds " signed on February 2, 1971 in Iran's Ramsar city. Vietnam signed the Convention in 1989, is the 50th member and the first country of Southeast Asia to join this Convention.
