Blueberries treat urethritis infections
Cranberry (cranberry) has long been known to be a therapy for UTI (urinary tract infections), a common disease caused by bacteria that enter the urethra and bladder.
There are many different natural products, blueberries are often used in juices or supplements. Blueberries can not only treat common forms of infection, but research has also shown that blueberries can prevent urethritis infection in the future.
Research evidence
Research shows that compounds in blueberries can help prevent bacteria from entering cells in the urethral wall. Early experiments on blueberries for urethral infections show a lot of results, some studies show that blueberries work to prevent urethritis infection.
Published in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews in 2008, researchers analyzed 10 experiments (with 1,049 patients) suggesting that blueberries can prevent urethritis infection. Generally, blueberry products (juice or supplements) are more effective than placebo in reducing the risk of urethral infection for a 12-month period. Blueberries seem particularly effective for women with recurrent urethral infections.
In another study (published in Drugs in 2009), it was found that using blueberries to treat urethritis infections was effective at 55%.
Should blueberries be used to prevent urethritis?
More research is needed to know exactly, but blueberries still have certain effects in preventing urethritis infection. Frequent use of blueberries may have side effects such as discomfort or diarrhea. If you want to use blueberries to treat or prevent urethritis, consult your doctor to be safe.
