Boats discharge CO2 twice as much as airplanes!

Carbon dioxide (CO ₂ ) emissions from boat transportation are twice as much as air transport and have increased dramatically in the last 6 years, according to a recent report by the International Shipbuilding Organization (Intertanko).

This report contradicts previous estimates by the International Maritime Organization that CO ₂ emissions are due to the operation of ships on par with aircraft.

There are about 90,000 boats from oil tankers to small cargo ships operating on the oceans.

Intertanko said their statistics are the most realistic assessment of current CO2 emissions from existing ships. According to the organization, the development of global trade, ships that use more fuel to transport goods faster have contributed to a significant increase in CO2 emissions.
