Pangasius (Kryptopterus bleekeri Gunther, 1864) is a freshwater fish belonging to the catfish set, which has very good meat quality, high price: 80,000 - 100,000 VND / kg (fresh fish). Three years ago, the program of research on artificial fish breeding techniques was adopted by the freshwater aquaculture department (Department of Fisheries, Can Tho University) in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology and the Center for Aquatic Breeding. Dong Thap province implemented. With herd of broodstock bought from wild caught people, the group succeeded in cultivating pangasius maturation. The reproductive results at the experimental laboratory of the fisheries department, Can Tho University showed that the rate of fertilized eggs reached 50-70% and hatching rate from 85-90%.

After two months of nursing, the fish reached the same size, the fish length from 8-9 cm, the average weight of 1 gram / fish, the survival rate ranged from 30-32%. The first batch of artificial fish (4,500) has been stocked experimentally in both ponds and rafts in Dong Thap Aquaculture Center. Currently, the research team continues to experimentally farm in the farm of farmers to monitor the development of fish in the condition of direct care of the people.
