Card detects toxins in food

Faced with the issue of food hygiene and safety, Le Van Trong, a young researcher of the Institute of Food Technology (Ministry of Industry) studied scientific topics related to toxins, with the desire to protect protecting consumers' health.

Recently, the topic " Research to create tags for quick detection of Nitrite content in fruits and vegetables, fermented meat " has achieved the outstanding type of the Ministry of Industry.

Consumers have long been worried about why there are fruits bought so that the whole week is still fresh; Pork and beef sometimes leave the whole day looking like new from the slaughterhouse! Le Van Trong explained: "On the market, the chemical preservatives originating from China are very cheap and are widely sold in the market. The topic "Research on creating tags for quick detection of Nitrite content in fruits and vegetables, fermented meat" that Trong and his colleagues are pursuing is the initial step to protect consumers' health. In the process of surveying, taking samples for analysis at some markets in Hanoi, Trong also discovered toxins that not only have fresh foods but also in cooked foods such as sausages, sausages. shop.

Trong said: "Eating is an essential need of people. While authorities have not controlled the chemicals, as well as the poor foods that contain floating toxins in the market, the prize The method of creating quick detection cards is the safest way to help consumers protect themselves ". After successful testing, Trong continued to improve and simplify the product. Trong revealed: "It is expected that by the end of this year, there will be a marketable cheap card. This is a kind of card with a solution, just put it on the food after 5 minutes will result".

Graduating from the Faculty of Environmental Science, Hanoi University of Natural Sciences in 2003, the research passion so Trong decided to submit the exam application to the Food Technology Institute and won the only "ticket" to the hospital that year. Over the past three years, Trong devoted all his time to research. Trong's working day begins at 8 am and ends at 8 pm. Trong said happily, his home is a laboratory. From here, Trong has carried out researches with high efficiency such as recycling cheap solvent; use safe pesticides; establish industry standards for analyzing organic sugars and acids .

Going into the study of new toxins or why the rate of cancer in Vietnam is increasing, the rate of infertility in the city also increases rapidly. This is also the reason Trong continues to pursue the master thesis of the topic of pesticide residue analysis in fruits and vegetables.

Normally, to have pesticide results, four groups should be analyzed, taking a lot of time. This approach can analyze all four samples in half a day. Save time, but still achieve good results. Trong confided: " I am only 26 years old, the science pathway is still long. I plan to study herbs in the next. In Vietnam there are many precious plants that can be processed into functional and real foods. Very good product for human health ".

Recently, Le Van Trong was selected by the Ministry of Industry to be the candidate for the "Forever 20" age of 2006.
