Mr. Hoang Van Khanh, Chairman of Duc Long Commune, said the first kangaroo was discovered and captured on the evening of November 8. The next day, people saw two more on the inter-commune roadside, near the bushes.

To capture the three kangaroos, Duc Long commune and Thach An district Forest Protection Department mobilized about 10 people, using nets to surround them. Each weighed about 8-10kg and was healthy. The Forest Protection Department is preparing documents to send them to the Hoang Lien Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Living Creatures (Lao Cai).

Mr. Khanh said this is the first time kangaroos have appeared in the area. Their origin is being verified.

According to some experts, the kangaroos in Cao Bang may be wallabies or mini kangaroos . This type is imported by many Vietnamese people to raise as pets.
