Chile seeks support to preserve the oldest mummies in the world
Chilean researchers are seeking international help to protect nearly 300 Chinchorro mummies found in the north of the country, considered the oldest mummies in the world to date.
According to scientific evidence, Chinchorro mummies , restored in recent years from the arid coastal areas near the border between Chile and Peru, date from between 5,000 BC and 1,500 years later. AD, is considered to be older than mummies in Egypt.

Sergio Medina, an anthropologist at Tarapaca University in Arica City in northern Chile, said the government was trying to get Chinchorro mummies to be fed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. National (UNESCO) recognized as a world heritage.
