Favilavir was developed by Zhejiang Hisun Pharmaceutical Company and is one of three drugs that have shown marked efficacy in treatment, the Ministry of Science and Technology said.

Sun Yanrong added that the drug is currently being used at 10 hospitals in Beijing, as well as in Guangdong and Hunan provinces of China.
