On May 16, according to news from the Department of Science and Technology of Thua Thien Hue province, during field inspection in the O Lau estuary and Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon, a research team discovered and recorded 14 Individual Black Ibis live.
This is also the first time this bird species has been recorded in the Central region. Previously, the Black Ibis was only recorded as a rare resident species in the South and wandering through the Northeast.

Black Ibis is one of the birds in the Ibis family ( Threskiornithidae ) , order Pelecaniformes . This is one of the families that currently records many rare bird species in the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as well as the Vietnam Red Book such as Spoonbill Platalea minor, Black-headed Ibis Threskiornis melanocephalus, Great Ibis Pseudibis gigantea, Pseudibis davisoni.
It is known that Black Quartz is considered to have a declining population. In Vietnam, many are only recorded in some areas of the Mekong Delta such as Tram Chim National Park (Dong Thap); Dat Mui (Ca Mau); Bac Lieu bird sanctuaries and Lang Sen Nature Reserve (Long An).
