Close-up of mating of 2 sea slugs
Siphotperon sp.1 is a small sea slug found off the northeastern coast of Australia. This is a bisexual animal so the body carries both male and female genitalia.
This nudibranch has a very 'violent' mating type: Injecting the penis into the partner's forehead.

Siphotperon sp.1 is a small sea slug found off the northeastern coast of Australia. This is a bisexual animal so the body carries both male and female genitalia.
The sea snail has two "quarters" , one used to contain sperm, the other acts as a needle to pump a liquid prostate hormone called allohormone into the partner's genitalia.
Close-up of mating: Sea slugs play the role of a male injecting a secondary penis into the partner's forehead, while inserting the main penis into the female genitalia.
According to reports of scientists recently published in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B on November 12, mating time of sea slugs is about 40 minutes. After injecting sperm into their partners, they continue to pump hormones into each other's circulatory system.
