Confiscated, returned to Indonesia two orangutans

On July 11, Forest Protection Department representatives confiscated 2 orangutans at Thanh Canh restaurant (Binh Duong) to return to Indonesia. Two Forest Protection Departments of Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong Province confiscated two orangutans at Thanh Canh Restaurant (Binh Duong).

After the confiscation was completed, these two orangutans were brought to rescue in Ho Chi Minh City. At the same time, prepare procedures to repatriate them to Indonesia.

The foreclosure case was witnessed by representatives of wildlife protection organizations such as WAR (Wildlife at Risk) and BOSF (Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation - Organization to Rescue and Restore orangutans).

Veterinary doctors from WAR and BOSF conducted veterinary tests and tests for the two orangutans mentioned above.

Orangutan (Orangutan) is an endangered mammal and listed in Appendix 1 of CITES Convention that Vietnam has been a member since 1994.

The discovery and confiscation of two orangutans at Thanh Canh restaurant comes from many complaints from foreign visitors when coming here.

Wildlife protection experts said that while two orangutans were confiscated at Thanh Canh Restaurant (Vietnam) to return to Indonesia, in Thailand, people are also making repatriation procedures for 52 the orangutan returned to Indonesia. At the same time, two more children are being brought to Indonesia from Saudi Arabia.

Orangutans only live in Indonesia and Malaysia. Like other big-tailed monkeys, they are close relatives to humans. It is estimated that there are only about 25 to 30 thousand orangutans surviving on Earth.
