Contraceptives for ... Kangaroo

Australian scientists are hoping for a new way to control the growth of kagaroo in this country: Use of birth control pills.

It is a new pill, which is taken into the body of kangaroo through food. Local authorities in Canberra are planning to implement this new method by sprinkling drugs on the lawn where kangaroo regularly eat.

Currently in Australia, the number of kangaroo is more than the population of the country, and is on the rise rapidly. Particularly in large plains and forests around Canberra, kangaroo's "population growth" speed increased rapidly.

This type of animal has caused a lot of danger for people driving cars and motorcycles. According to the Canberra Times data, there were 600 car accidents in this area in 2004 caused by kangaroo.

People in this area are always opposed to shooting kangaroo to limit the number, because they consider this animal a national symbol. So in the past, responsible people had to use unpaid methods that were not as effective as implantation of subcutaneous contraceptives with females, and cutting vasectomy with males.

The new method of introducing oral contraceptives through food can be considered a salvage solution to kangaroo " boom " in Australia. However, scientists are still facing a major obstacle: how to make a drug, put it into food, and make kangaroo like to eat it.
