Cure erectile dysfunction by new method

Shock wave therapy (sound waves) can help treat people with erectile dysfunction-ED that cannot be cured with medications.

Researcher Ilan Gruenwald, a urologist in the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, Israel, said sound wave therapy can significantly improve sexual function for men. ED patients will improve in 2 months after stopping treatment, and nearly 30% of them regain normal sexual function and do not need medication.

to the penis, cure erectile dysfunction?

This treatment has been used to spread kidney stones with high-intensity sound waves. However, in ED treatment, it is used with lower intensity. Through testing, no man suffered or suffered side effects, the researchers said.

Sound waves can be used to treat ED patients when conventional treatments cannot be cured.

Low-intensity sound waves can improve blood flow to the heart to dilate blood vessels. The researchers speculated that such a wave could also improve blood flow to the penis.

A previous study showed that men who treated sound waves had mild to moderate ED disease. In the new study, the scientists conducted patients with severe ED that could not be treated with drugs.

Results, one month after treatment, 8 out of 29 people with severe ED may have normal sexual activity. The average score on the scale (6 points -30 points) assessed the ability to improve sexual function increased from 8.8 to 10.

But there is also skepticism about this treatment. According to Dr. Andrew Kramer, a urologist at the University of Maryland Medical Center, who did not participate in the study, the results need to be considered carefully. Because sound waves are often used in the treatment of kidney stones with gravel function. With the penis, it can also strike with a "hammer".

Even if shockwaves work, this treatment may not be the mainstream therapy in the future. Because it requires a special treatment machine, Kramer said.

Scientists in the study also acknowledge that this is just an experiment and they hope to develop this treatment.

The results of the study are published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine on 18/10/2011.
