Recently, archaeologist and anthropologist John Verano of Tulane University discovered the mysterious solution of the unearthed mass grave in Huanchaquito village, Chimú, Peru.

In 2011, archaeologist Gabriel Prieto excavated the area when local people found some human skulls on the coastal sand dunes.

Here, the team quickly found 42 children's skeletons and 76 llamas dating to about 600 years of age. Now, experts have discovered, the departure of these children and llamas aims to serve a ceremony related to the sea.

To draw this conclusion, experts analyzed the skeleton and found that on the remains of the children were killed by knives, the ax at the point was marked with a slash on the chest. The judgment given is that these babies have been robbed of their hearts - the spiritual part considered the most valuable of human beings.

This area was built by the Chimú people around 850 and is the center of Peru during the period from 1100 until that civilization was overthrown by the Incas in 1470.

A researcher said: " In the old northern Peru coast, agriculture is closely linked to the sea, just by looking at the temperature of the water, you can determine whether it is raining or not. so this ritual is probably related to the sea. "
