Decipher the mystery of the Morse code message on Mars

The message has been solved. But scientists are trying to explain how these Morse-coded dunes are formed.

NASA has discovered strange signs, black dunes on Mars have dots and dashes that make Morse code.

This is not the first time researchers have discovered these shapes on Mars' sand, but thanks to the unique terrain, the long sand dunes to the south of the planet's north have shown a way. Details are clearer than normal.

This is a phenomenon that allows scientists to decode the message for the first time.

Clearly, this message is naturally formed , like the sand dunes available on Earth. Dots and dashes from sand dunes are created by the wind direction, there are no ghosts here.

A press release from NASA explained, sand dunes with special characters indicate the fact that it was found inside a natural circular depression. That means there is already some sand available to the wind in the surrounding blowing area.

The dashes are formed by two-way winds, which means that the wind has moved perpendicular to the dunes.

Over time, the wind coming from both sides turned all materials into a long black line, as you can see in the close-up image below:

Geophysicists believe that, when they are being formed, something has disrupted the creation of linear sand dunes. However, NASA is not sure what it is and the discovery of it is the reason they capture these images.

These images were taken by a high-resolution scientific laboratory (HiRISE) camera, mounted on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter - which has captured images of the Red planet in the last decade.

What do Martian sand dunes want to say to us?

With increased observation, geophysicists hope that they will be able to learn more about how to form Morse-coded sand dunes on the surface of Mars, and that can tell us. about the potential of life on this planet.

And while they were studying, NASA planetary scientist Veronica Bray translated the Morse code message for Maddie Stone on Gizmodo:

NEE NED ZB 6TNN DEIBEDH SIEFI EBEEE SSIEI ESEE SEEE !!

In fact, it's just a bunch of rather messy words - and not intended to imply anything other than a bit of geophysical pleasure.

However, maybe one day, finding and reading Morse code messages on Mars sand will help us better understand the life of this potential "outpost" in future. Therefore, it deserves attention.

What is Morse code?

Morse code or Mo-code is a type of character encoding used to transmit telegraph information. Morse code uses a standardized string of long and short elements to represent letters, numbers, dots, and special characters of a message. Long and short words can be represented by sound, marks or tiles, or pulses, or wall symbols called "dots" and "tiles" or "dot" and "dash" in English. .
