Scientists have developed hard-steel hardened glass.

Japanese scientists have developed a new type of hard-steel glass . This is a breakthrough that could lead to more durable glass and tabletop production.

Oxidized glass contains mainly silica , with increased hardness by adding alumina - also known as aluminum oxide . But scientists have found it difficult to create a glass of alumina-rich glass that precipitates when glass is exposed to the container. Alumina is the main factor to increase the durability of glass enamel : increase the tensile strength, reduce the thermal expansion, increase the hardness and increase the resistance to chemical erosion.

The scientists solved the problem by using an unused storage technique. They use gas to push chemical components into the air where they are synthesized to form glass. The obtained glass is colorless, transparent and very hard, with 50% of the composition being made from aluminum oxide.
