Discover ancient wells near Ho's citadel

On January 2, the Ho Chi Minh City Heritage Center said that recently, during the process of surveying and studying Ho's heritage, the center officials discovered the old well at Xuan Giai village, Vinh commune. Tien (Vinh Loc, Thanh Hoa).

The well is located in the center of Xuan Giai village, 300m away from the Ho Chi Minh city to the southeast, the diameter is 2m wide, 6m deep, the well is calculated from the ground of 1m high. Trinh Van Hieng (82 years old, Xuan Giai village) said that he did not remember exactly which well the year was from, only listening to his relatives from the well from the Ho dynasty.'In the past, villagers often came here to bathe, then carry water to cook. Well water is very clear, sweet, so the village festivals take tea to stop. Pham The Vinh (90 years old, Xuan Giai village) said that in 1946-1947, wells were rehabilitated by villagers on an old well foundation with brick cover taken from Ho's citadel. Brick wells are 50cm long, 25cm wide, 9cm high. Although it is more than 600 years old, most of these bricks are kept fresh and evenly ripe, showing that the ancient firing technique of the people is very high. On the surface of many bricks, it is engraved with Han Nom letters, originating from villages such as Dai An, Ke Nua and Co Loi (Tho Xuan district today).
