Discover gold necklace in Peru

The oldest gold jewelry in America was discovered in southern Peru. The bracelet made from 4,000 years ago, was found in a cemetery near Lake Titicaca.

" This discovery is really shocking, " said Mark Aldenderfer, an anthropologist at the University of Arizona, USA. " We were completely unexpected ."

In the past, it was thought that only a developed society was qualified to manufacture jewelry. But those who lived in this area at the time were still hunter-gatherers."They are on their way to becoming advanced residents, but have not reached their destination yet." However, someone has enough time and skill to create this jewelry. It may have the meaning of prestige and status.

There is no evidence to show how the item was created. But it looked like a rough piece of gold that was flattened with mortar and pestle. Then the piece of gold is wrapped around a piece of wood and pounded so that it bends into a small tube.

The researchers recombined the chain, alternating between 9 gold tubes with round stones with holes in the middle. These stones, turquoise, are also found in the area.

The second antique gold jewelry was also found in Peru, but to the north, dating back less than 600 years compared to this necklace.
