Discover the remains of an ancient city on the outskirts of Vienne

French archaeologists have discovered an ancient city they called a 'cottage Pompeii' on the outskirts of Vienne, southeastern this country.

Here, they found many vestiges of luxury houses and public buildings.

According to the archaeologist, Benjamin Clement, this is the most significant excavation of Roman relics in the last 40-50 years.

The site was excavated on the site awaiting construction of a residential area of ​​nearly 7,000 square meters. This is considered an 'unusual' finding in an urban area.

This site contains many vestiges of houses dating back to the 1st century AD and is believed to be home to residents for about 300 years before being abandoned after a series of fires.

Many antiques were folded when the residents left the place still quite intact, through which archaeologists realized this was the "true Pompeii in Vienne".

The excavation at the site was started in April and is expected to end in mid-September. However, the French government has asked to extend excavations until the end of the year so that archaeologists can discover more oil.

It is expected that in the coming months, archaeological groups will excavate in the older neighborhoods of this site.

Pompeii is a ruins of a Roman city that was completely destroyed and buried in a volcanic eruption in 79 AD.

The city disappeared 1,700 years before it was suddenly discovered in 1748. Since then, experts have been excavating Pompeii, providing a detailed view of the life of a city in the time of the Roman Empire.

Pompeii has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site and is currently one of the best tourist attractions in Italy.
