Discovered a completely new life form
From the international database of more than 1,500 multi-genomes, scientists have restructured a single genome of 7,280 new bacteria and 623 bacteria (protozoan microorganisms).
Scientists at the University of Queensland, Australia have discovered a group of thousands of creatures whose structure is so strange that it is not classified into any existing organism.
This study was published in Nature Microbiology. In the study, they used a new technique called metagenomics - a technique for analyzing the genome DNA of microorganisms that live in the natural environment - to create multiple genomes of the specimen.
Microorganisms are also used to make fertilizers for agricultural use.
From the international database of more than 1,500 multi-genomes, scientists have restructured a single genome of 7,280 new bacteria and 623 bacteria (protozoan microorganisms).
In this group, nearly one third of the structure is unlike any other microorganism ever seen before. They created 17 new strains of bacteria and three new strains of ancient bacteria
"The true value of these genomes is that many genomes have evolved differently from the previously known genomes," said Gene Tyson, one of the researchers on the subject.
The finding has enormous implications for the production of new antibiotics, countering antibiotic resistance that could cause 23,000 Americans to die each year.
In addition, microorganisms are also used to make fertilizers for agricultural use. Some types of microorganisms can produce ethanol used in dyes, detergents or for treating garbage.
