Discovered lumpy toad fish in Vietnam

Mr. Nguyen Van Sang, Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources, has discovered a new species of toadfish tylotriton (also known as lumpy toad) in the lowland mountain forest area of ​​Bac Giang province, Vietnam.

This species of toad is characterized by skin covered with very small nodules, flat heads, dorsal gray or light brown, no large orange or red spots on the back. They are fertile in small ponds in the forest during the rainy season .

This hardy toad fish belongs to the tail frog family, they are a bit similar to the lizards. This is a particularly rare species, classified as ENB1 (endangered species) in the Vietnam Red Book. It is known that outside Bac Giang province, the research of Mr. Nguyen Van Sang and his colleagues also showed that the cauliflower fish also appeared in some other provinces such as Nghe An, Cao Bang and Lao Cai. Including this lumpy toad fish, Vietnam now has four species of toad fish, including: belly flower, guangxi, lumpy salmon and lumpy toad fish.
