Some microorganisms can live on Mars.

Accordingly, scientists conducted several studies on Methanothermobacter wolfeii, Methanosarcina barkeri, Methanobacterium formicicum and Methanococcus maripaludis - those that are viable in the absence of air and produce methane.

Experimental results show that these microorganisms are able to survive under similar low pressure conditions on Mars, only 6/1000 pressures on Earth. This means they can live on Mars.

Scientists are still continuing their studies, including checking whether these microorganisms can survive at temperatures near -100 degrees Celsius as on Mars.
