In Chile, a 5.3 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the central region. The epicenter of the earthquake lies at a depth of 24.7km, 44km from La Ligua city to the west and 135km from the capital Santiago.
Although quite far away, Santiago residents also felt this earthquake because the buildings were shaken. There is currently no information about the number of casualties as well as the damage caused by the earthquake.
Chile is urgently overcoming the consequences of the earthquake disaster that happened last year, killing more than 500 people and causing losses of about $ 30 billion. Chilean President Sebastian Pinera said the country's reconstruction after the earthquake will last until 2014.
Meanwhile, Canada's Earthquake Monitoring Center announces a strong earthquake of 4.7 on the Richter scale has also occurred in the eastern Ontario province of the country. The tremor takes about 10 seconds and can be felt in Lachute, Quebec. There is no information about casualties and damage in the earthquake.
