Eat lots of fish and vegetables to prevent brain aging

Diets high in vitamins and fish can prevent aging in the brain, while a high-fat diet will have the opposite effect.

The BBC reports scientists from two universities and a medical center in the US - including Oregon Health and Science University, Portland Medical Center, University of Oregon - blood sample analysis of 104 healthy people strong with an average age of 87. They then asked the study subjects to perform memory tests.

The results showed that the more people with higher levels of vitamins B, C, D and E, the higher their memory capacity. People with high levels of omega 3 - fatty acid groups that exist primarily in fish - also score well. The lowest score belongs to people with trans fatty acids in the blood.

Metabolic fatty acids are quite common in processed foods such as cakes, biscuits and fried foods. They do not have any function in the human body and rarely form in the natural environment.

The team also found that people with higher levels of vitamins and omega 3 had larger brains than those with high levels of trans-fatty acids.

'Our research results need to be obtained by other scientists. However, I find it interesting to think that humans can prevent brain shrinkage and maintain mental activity by regulating daily diets , 'said Gene Bowman, a researcher at Oregon University of Health and Science, speaking.

Maret Traber, a member of the research team, says people should increase their intake of vegetables, fruits and fish to protect the brain.
