Eating four eggs a week could reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes by more than a third, according to a new study.
Eating eggs helps prevent diabetes
Scientists from Eastern Finland University examined the eating habits of 2,332 men from 42 to 60 years old. The results showed that those who ate four eggs a week were 37 percent less likely to develop type 2 diabetes than men who ate only one egg a week.
Eating 4 eggs a day can help reduce 1/3 of your risk of diabetes.
The team said eggs that contain lots of nutrients can improve glucose metabolism and reduce inflammation. However, eating more than 4 eggs a week does not bring any significant benefit.
However, scientists warn that people with type 2 diabetes should not increase their egg intake every week because they seem to increase cardiovascular disease in people who already have diabetes.
Another independent study found that eating fatty dairy foods also significantly reduced the risk of type 2 diabetes. Research by scientists at Lund University (Sweden) showed that people who ate High-fat dairy foods giammr 23% of the risk of diabetes. However, fatty meat increases the risk of this disease.
Dr. Ulrika Ericson, head of Lund University's research team, said: ' When we found that saturated fatty acids are more abundant in milk than meat. This type of fatty acid is associated with a lower risk of type 2 diabetes.
However, scientists do not rule out the possibility that other components in dairy products such as fermented milk and cheese may also work to reduce the risk of diabetes.
