The research team pointed out that high consumption of processed meats leads to a 72% and 11% risk of dying from cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Scientists estimate that reducing the consumption of processed meat every day to 20g may help reduce the risk of premature death by 3.3%.

The new study also shows that meals with high levels of processed meat are linked to unhealthy lifestyles.

For example, people who eat a lot of processed meat are less likely to eat fruits and vegetables and are at a higher risk of smoking.

However, scientists claim that eating small amounts of red meat is really healthy, because they contain many essential vitamins and minerals.
