Encourage the manufacture of solar vehicles

In the face of increasing air pollution in Ho Chi Minh City, finding a new source of energy is important and encouraged.

Therefore, the launch of the 2011 'Solar Powered Car' competition is an interesting activity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

This activity has attracted a lot of mechanical and electronic engineering students from 9 universities nationwide and 23 participating enterprises so that it can create a breakthrough for the application of this type of vehicle into reality. see life.

According to Master Pham Xuan Hien, lecturer of the Department of Electronic Physics, Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Sciences, currently countries in the world such as the Netherlands and Japan have put solar-powered cars into transportation of people, but for Vietnam, this is the first time to organize a competition on manufacturing solar cars.

With the contest of solar powered cars, students from year 2 to year 4 in the field of electronic engineering are involved, as this is a useful competition, helping to stimulate students and families. conditions for practical, practical manufacturing, optimization research solutions in solar energy accumulation.

Mr. Hien added, to complete a car, each team has a different design. As a rule, teams designed with 3-wheeled vehicles and for 1 driver, maximum capacity for test vehicles reaches 240W, to absorb the sunshine for cars to run at speeds of 16-40km / hour.

Mr. Le Cong Danh, a lecturer in mechanical engineering, shared with his team of vehicles, conducted a test run and reached the speed of 35 km / hour. Currently this car uses natural energy very effectively. However, this is a completely new field, applied to car engines, so the size of the battery is too large when installed on the side of the car, making the car cumbersome when moving.

Mr. Hoang Cuong, General Director of An Lac Joint Stock Company, said that to create such a car, he did not have to pay any cost for equipment or engines, but completely used old spare parts, old engines. Recycle. If you want to say it for fun, the funding for the car is equal to the sale of the factory's scrap iron.

Under any creation, the car can still operate depending on the engine and vehicle weight, with a car reaching speeds of 20 km / h, and also a car with a speed of 40 km / h with a harsh midday sun .

Although it is not known what the results will be, but behind this competition, enterprises have cherished a breakthrough for engines that run on fossil energy, replacing traditional energy sources and completely using using natural energy, thereby producing solar-powered vehicles on a narrow scale.

And Mr. Nguyen Vietnam, representative of Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV), said he has built a car to meet the battery capacity set by the energy saving center, the speed of the car is about 20km. / hour, the investment fund for the car is about VND 15 million, because at the technical department there is not any scrap iron, or an engine that is discarded is reused, so he must go buy each iron, each engine and other details for the car.

Towards practical production

Mr. Le Hoai Quoc, Head of Ho Chi Minh City Hi-tech Park Management Board said that there were 45 teams of 6 provinces (Bac Ninh, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City). The whole country registered to participate in the competition.

The difference of the teams will be reflected in the design capacity so as to achieve optimal energy consumption, expressed in the speed of the highest car, demonstrating the superiority of the design.

In parallel with this event, there is also a design contest, a car-styling to carry out a project to manufacture cars for internal transportation in high-tech zones such as a shuttle bus from Hanoi Highway to companies in high-tech zones, vehicles running around production factories .

According to Mr. Hoang Cuong, after this competition, whether he did not know whether to win the prize or not, Mr. Cuong and the director of the Green Energy Company still intend to produce solar-powered cars combined with diesel. used for the weather of Vietnam, especially in Ho Chi Minh City, is not always sunny, and when it is sunny, the car uses solar energy, helping both reduce the cost of oil energy, both reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Nam said that after finishing the contest, he could find a way to build a solar power system for the HTV building itself, which he is working on.
