Gemma and Leanne Houghton, 15-year-old twins, live with their family in the city of Atherton. Leanne had many sudden faints. One day in February, Gemma suddenly felt restless and thought that Leanne had something bad. She ran upstairs to find her and saw Leanne lying motionless in the bathtub due to sudden fainting.
"At that time Leanne was in the water. At first I thought she was washing her hair or playing something. But when I lifted Leanne's head I saw her face was pale , " Gemma said. After pulling Leanne out of the tank, Gemma performs first-aid actions for the drowning she learned in school and dials 999 to call an ambulance. The medical staff said that thanks to Gemma's first-aid movements, Leanne kept her life.
"If Gemma didn't make it in time, surely Leanne was dead. She did a miracle," said Steve Pearson, a medical staff member at the sisters' home.
Connie Hitchcock, the mother of the two, was surprised by Gemma's ability. She said: "I don't understand why she can do such extraordinary things. Now I only cry because I'm happy."
