This image was recorded when the F15 fighter 'accidentally' flew through the launch area of the Atlantis spacecraft at 1,609 km / h. The photo taken on May 14 was the work of Lieutenant Colonel Gabriel Green and Captain Zachary Bartoe, of Seymour Johnson Air Force Headquarters in North Carolina.
The F15 fighter "inhaled" the Atlantis space shuttle.
When Atlantis left the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, two F15s patrolled the sky above the launch area. During the launch, five aircraft accidentally entered the no-fly zone and were immediately escorted out of the area.
After making the final flights for 'sisters' Discovery and Endeavor to the ISS station later this year, NASA plans to end its shuttle program.
Atlantis brought six astronauts with the task of bringing a new Russian module and some important replacement parts to the international space station. The Atlantis "anchored" ISS on May 16, two days after 'takeoff' and arrived in Florida on May 26 after 186 times orbit and nearly 12 days in space. This is the last mission of the space shuttle Atlantis.
During 25 years of operation, Atlantis completed 32 missions and traveled more than 194 million km.
