"Floating house" design in Vietnam is not a new story and for a long time we have had floating house groups on Ha Long Bay, pangasius rafts on the river in the Central, houses on the piles in the South . but not solved the problem completely.

Embarking on the topic, the group surveyed the natural conditions and social conditions of the Mekong Delta, selected Vinh Thanh commune, Tan Hung district, Long An province - the area with the highest annual floodwaters here to do research sites. Every year, the Mekong Delta produces more than half of Vietnam's rice, food and fruit production.

The reason that the Mekong River Delta has such a great benefit is due to the abundant sediment brought to the flood every time. Therefore, if choosing a flood prevention solution, the soil will be discolored, not fertile enough for the following crops. Therefore, the solution to live with floods has to ensure natural resources while ensuring the welfare of residents. The team has also studied floating home models from the world to the simplest, most popular floating houses in the Netherlands - a country that is always threatened by rising sea levels.

The research team has proposed to solve the planning, because currently the population is distributed in 3 main forms: Pair by canal, pair by field, central area. These points will be a place to live, a market in the dry season and a home to floating houses during the flood season.

The architectural solution of the group is to build 3-storey floating house models, 3 spaces with 2 facades and double houses. This type of house has an EPS float system (EPS float is coated with an outer plastic layer) which is designed to be connected, making it easy to move vertically along the 4 directional pillars when the water rises. Therefore, when they do not want to move, the house can also float on its own in the flood season. The structure of the frame system can be selected by wood or aluminum (light, easy to assemble, high strength .). In addition, the group also provided specific calculations on the utility, solving problems arising in the flood season, sanitation, lighting, clean water .

With the solution of the group, the price of a floating house with an area of ​​7.2m x 7.2m (including items) is complete using a wooden frame of about 90 million VND, an aluminum frame of 120 million VND.
