Found the first 'matches' of humanity

Israeli scientists say stone and clay artifacts from the Stone Age can be the oldest matches ever known.

In the past, long cylindrical objects were often interpreted as symbols of religious worship of male gas (penis). However, Israeli researchers think this could be a tool to create the fire of the ancients.

'We have found evidence of modern people and Neanderthals, from coal, ash, fireplaces, but have never found any evidence concerning the fire ,' said Professor Naama Goren-Inbar. at the Jewish University Jeruralem and the research leader, said.

Thanks to a visit to the museum in Jerusalem, GS. Goren-Inbar realized that the shape of objects found at archaeological site Sha'ar HaGolan could be something to create fire, not simply to bring cultural meaning.

Thanks to the microscope, GS. Goren-Inbar and his colleagues discovered signs that those things were spinning at high speed to light the fire.

This explanation is consistent with the cultural evidence known about the Neolithic period, as well as knowledge of ancient fire technique.

GS. Goren-Inbar said she will conduct further research to ascertain this conclusion.
