The ship sank about 2,000 years ago on the trade road between Spain and central Italy with goods of more than 200 two-girdle crutches.
The inspection of some scraps shows that they contain giraffes, grains, alcohol and oil. These foods are brought to Spain in exchange for other goods.
'There are some breaks around the wreck but we believe that most of the ships inside are still sealed and filled with food,' Lieutenant Colonel Francesco Schilardi led the police divers who found the ship. .
The ship is being buried under layers of mud under the sea, so the wreck and the goods remain intact.
It will still be there until the authorities decide whether to salvage it.
'Currently the detection area is being protected. Fishing and sea transport activities are banned , 'Schilardi said.
