Satellite THOR 7 is responsible for securing broadcasting for Norway's telenor telecom company in Central and Eastern Europe region, as well as in Northern Europe and coastal areas.
The 4.7 ton THOR 7 is made by US satellite manufacturer Space Systems / Loral. This is the second telecommunications satellite launched by Arianespace to space from the Space Center in Guyana.
SICRAL 2 satellite weighs 4.4 tons, launched into space according to orders of the Ministry of Defense France and Italy. SICRAL 2 will collect strategic and tactical information, and allow the expansion of backup telecommunications capabilities for member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
According to the plan, the launch of the two satellites was carried out in mid-April, but after two failed launches, it was postponed until April 26.
