US scientists have found that stem cells in the adult's veins can recover tissue - a discovery that promises new treatments for disease and ligament damage.

Scientists and researcher Songtao Shi of the University of Southern California's Department of Dentistry have identified the unique cells that have inside the adult tendon that have the characteristics of stem cells - including the ability to produce born quickly and recovered.

The researchers isolated the cells and reconstructed ligament-like tissue on the animal model.

Shi said: 'Clinically, ligament injury is a difficult disease to treat, not only for athletes but also for patients who have to suffer from ligament injury. such as ligament rupture or bone breakage due to deflection. This study demonstrates that we can use stem cells to repair ligaments. Now we know how to get them from tissue and how to control their formation inside tendon cord cells. '

The study, led by Yanming Bi of the National Institutes of Health, will be published in October in the publication of Nature Medicine and is currently posted online on the newspaper's Web site.
