Giant cow 2 meters high, weighs 1700kg
With a history of at least 2,200 years, the Chianina is one of the oldest known cattle breeds on Earth.
The sight of giant, towering cows, exceeding the standards of ordinary cattle may have led many to wonder if they were some kind of biological mutation.
The Chianina is the oldest cattle breed on Earth, and also exceeds the standards of most common cattle.
However, this is actually a Chianina - an old Italian breed of cow, formerly a draft animal, but now mainly raised for meat.
The Chianina cow was even praised by ancient poets and inspired ancient Roman sculptures. Even today, they are still used as part of traditional weddings according to some religious beliefs.
The most notable feature of this breed of cattle is that they have a very muscular body and muscular blocks. It was this that made them the main source of agricultural traction in Italy until the advent of mechanization.
Chianina cows can be much taller than an adult, and at the same time weigh up to 1.7 tons.
Chianina cattle still hold the record of being the tallest and heaviest cattle breed. An adult cow can be from 1.6 meters tall, weigh from 800kg - 1 ton. Meanwhile, bulls can be nearly 1.8 meters tall and weigh 1300kg.
In particular, Bellino is the Chianina cow with the "most terrible" achievement, when up to 2.03 meters tall and weighing 1700kg, once declared by Guinness World Records as the world's largest livestock in 2010.
Another Chianina bull, named Donetto, holds the world weight record, when it weighed up to 1,780 kg.
Today, Chianina cows are also known as "meat machines", as they can grow at a rate of over 2kg of meat per day, yet are of top quality.
