Google Announces Detailed Android Wear: Diverse Notifications

Three months after it was announced, Google announced details about Android Wear, the platform for smart devices that could carry it.

Discovering that style is as important as functionality, Wear supports both the square and the round screen. Devices that run Wear will always stay on, they will be in power saving mode most of the time, and the screen will switch to full color mode when you raise your hand.

You can also choose from many beautiful, unique timepieces, but the power of Android Wear lies in the variety of notifications. Android Wear will get a notification from your phone, and you can click to see more information, each with a separate background that slides into with a new Material UI design. If you turn off a notification on the smartwatch, it will no longer show up on the phone.

The complete SDK application development kit for Android Wear has been released, so developers can write applications for their smartwatches. When you install an app on your phone, the app on smartwatch is automatically uploaded to your watch, so you do not have to install the app on both devices.

You can use voice commands by saying "Ok Google" to add a contextual prompt. If you set up a "when I go home ..." reminder the phone prompts you as soon as you get home. The app can also learn from you, your smartwatch can remember when you crave pizza and what kind of pizza you like to display the pizza set interface right when you need it.
