The lesbian couple, who live in Nottinghamshire, became the first two mothers in the world to go through the process of bearing their baby.

30-year-old Donna Smith and 28-year-old Jasmine Smith took turns pregnant with Otis, until she was safely born.

After performing artificial insemination, the doctors placed the fertilized eggs in Donna's womb for 18 weeks. By the time the sperm and egg develop into a fetus, the embryo is transferred to Jasmine's womb. She continued to be pregnant until the baby was born.

On December 4, the lesbian couple shared their memorable pregnancy.

"We were all overwhelmed. In the past, lesbian couples had children by taking an artificial fertilized egg and putting it in the womb of the other person. But we were different because we were going through so much. This brings us closer together and creates a strong bond with the son, " Donna said.

Otis was born in September this year, is 3 months old now and in perfect health.

According to a representative of Northamptonshire Hospital, where Jasmine gave birth, the process of sharing the pregnancy made the couple feel more equal and more attached.

The first lesbian case in Britain to give birth was in 2001, thanks to experts at the London Maternity Hospital. The doctor uses the fertilized egg of one of the gay couples and places it in the womb of another person. Then more than 100 babies were born thanks to this method. However, this is the first time that both mothers have gone through pregnancy, marking the advancement of medicine in artificial insemination.
